Face The Ace Lawsuit: Man Claims Idea Stolen
NBC’s primetime poker show Face The Ace took a hit in the ratings and now it may take a hit in court.
TMZ.com reports that the production company, Poker Productions, is being sued by one Brandon McSmith, who claims they "stole his idea" for the show. And now he’s looking for a cool $85 million in damages.
Basically the premise of the show is for wannabe poker players to compete against pros (who were hidden behind doors) for a chance to win a seat at the World Series of Poker.
The pros in question are part of Team Full Tilt Poker, the second largest online poker room in the world.
This would be the second high profile lawsuit against the online poker company following a legal action filed by poker pro Clonie Gowen.
Gowen, formerly part of ‘Team Full Tilt’, in November of last year she filed suit in Nevada court against Tiltware LLC, the software company linked with Full Tilt, claiming breach of contract. Seeking damages of $40 million, she had accepted 1 % ownership of the company for being a celebrity representative in 2004. However, in 2007, all Team FTP members pocketed distribution checks apart from her, forcing her to seek damages.
