Tottenham favoured for Champions League progress – Online Casino News

Tottenham Hotspur will need to overturn a 3-2 first leg deficit against Swiss side Young Boys if they are to progress to the group stage of this season’s Champions League. Bookmakers have plenty of faith in the north London side though making them odds on favourites to emerge victorious on the night.

Spurs, making their first appearance in Europe’s premier club competition since 1962, were 3-0 down in the first half of the opening leg in Berne but a spirited fightback with goals from Bassong and Pavlyuchenko saw them bring the deficit down to a single goal. Betfred, Victor Chandler, BlueSq, Stan James and 888Sport all have the Londoners at 1/4 to win tonight. Read the full post >>

New York Giants Drop First Official Home Game At New Meadowlands Stadium To Pittsburgh Steelers 24-17

Ben Roethlisberger made his pre-season debut against the New York Giants in hopes of getting plenty of reps before he is sidelined for the beginning of the 2010 NFL season. His replacement will be either Byron Leftwich or Dennis Dixon, two players that combined to lead the team to three touchdown drives.

The Giants had a huge victory over their rival New York Jets in their first game of the pre-season, but fell short by a score of 24-17 against the Steelers. Rhett Bomar played the entire game because of Eli Manning’s head injury suffered in the game against the Jets. The most trusted USA sportsbooks had set the Giants as underdogs in that game.

The opening quarter was pedestrian at best for both sides.

British Columbia online casino black online

British Columbia’s controversial online casino is back up and running. At 7:00 PM last night, the British Columbia Lottery Corporation’s PlayNow.com website was re-launched, giving players in the Canadian province the first opportunity in more than a month to play their favorite casino games online.

The online casino was the first launched in North America but it only lasted a couple hours before a security breach caused it to be shut down. A glitch in the software allowed some players to use the accounts of others, wagering with someone else’s money. For s

Finland government support for online poker monopoly draws criticism

Finland’s government may need to batten down the hatches for an imminent media and advertising storm generated by its attempts to establish an online poker monopoly. The Finns started manoeuvring on the issue at the beginning of 2010, when the government released its plan to open a state-run internet poker room along the lines of the lucrative Svenska Spel and Danske Spil models, now the subject of EC-prompted liberalisation.

Playtech scored a coup in May this year in winning the contract for the software and technology chosen to power the new business, CardPlayer Magazine reported recently.

Cincinnati Bengals Set As Betting Favorite Over Denver Broncos In Second Pre-Season Game

The Cincinnati Bengals still have a lot of kinks to work out of their new high-powered offense ahead of the 2010 NFL season. They will try to work those bugs out Sunday evening at home against the Denver Broncos.

The Bengals finished last season at the top of the AFC North division last season with a 10-6 record, and a perfect conference record of 6-0. They suffered a disappointing loss in the wild-card round of the playoffs to the New York Jets. It was a season of adversity for the team as the tsunami in American Samoa affected many players, and their injured wide receiver Chris Henry lost his life after a domestic dispute. Mike Zimmer also lost his wife unexpectedly.

Baltimore Ravens A Decided Favorite Against Carolina Panthers Despite Depleted Secondary

The Carolina Panthers will square off against the Baltimore Ravens to open the 2010 preseason for both teams on Thursday at the M&T Bank Stadium. Coming off a strong performance in 2008, the Carolina Panthers regressed to the tune of an 8-8 season and third place in the NFC South in 2009.

By the same token, the Baltimore Ravens are coming off a season with a lot of ebbs and curves en route to a 9-7 finish that included opening with three straight victories, then three straight losses and finally alternated wins and losses for the duration of the season.

J.P. Arencibia, Toronto Blue Jays Pound Tampa Bay Rays For 17 Runs

Toronto Blue Jays fans got a glimpse of the future Saturday, and for them the future is bright. J.P. Arencibia made his major league debut behind the plate, but did the most damage when he stepped to it in the batter’s box. The Tampa Bay Rays only managed to retire Arencibia once in his five at-bats. By then the damage had already been done.

The rookie catcher began his major league career by hitting a two-run home run to left field off Rays starter James Sheilds, who dropped to 10-10 after getting touched up for eight earned runs, and six homers. He is now the third player in franchise history to homer in his first at-bat as a Jay.

Macau Continues Fast Pace Increase In Gambling Revenue

Though Macau’s gambling industry had skipped a beat when the World Cup had blown through, armed with vuvuzelas, the occasional upset, a horde of bettors and many arrests, it is finally beginning to kick back up. Macau’s gambling industry has posted a surge of 70 percent in July.

According to reports, the gross gambling revenue in Macau totaled just over 16 billion patacas, or $2 billion dollars. In contrast, last year’s month of July generated a paltry 9.6 billion patacas, or $1.2 billion dollars. The World Cup had reduced revenue in the month of June to only 13.6 billion patacas, or $1.7 billion dollars.

The last time Macau had experienced a surge of 70 percent or higher was in April, where a 70.1 percent increase had occurred.
